跨越地域及文化界限
国际化及多元文化是大势所趋，独立及多角度思考至为重要。刘天霖(Vanessa)及邓传毅(Matthew)最近有机会到美国众议院议员办公室实习，扩阔他们的国际视野。
在科大的支持下，人文社会科学学院与美国华盛顿的美国天主教大学(Catholic University of America)建立协议，两位环球中国研究学系的同学自今年一月起，分别于芝加哥民主党议员Bobby Rush及阿拉斯加共和党议员Don Young的办公室担任实习生。
除了应付办公室日常的行政事务，Vanessa及Matthew于担任实习生期间，获得了难能可贵的经验。Vanessa拜访了逾30个州份的办公室，对各地不同的文化留下深刻的印象。另一边厢，Matthew增进了不少有关美国现时政治议题的知识，那些议题在香港并不常见，透过进行背景资料搜集，他能够从非公民身分去了解及分析当地时事。
适应当地文化和语言往往是连系不同文化的桥梁，Vanessa及Matthew于日常生活中放开怀抱，适应新环境，从而克服这个挑战。他们不仅取得宝贵的工作经验，更就他们的工作称职获得嘉许。最重要的是，他们学习到以多角度思考模式去分析全球时事。
踏入第三年，环球中国研究学系将继续透过其课程及专题项目，为同学提供更多全球学习机会及全方位教育，务求提升他们对中国及全球的认知。
