于宏宇教授及李建邦教授获选为英国皇家航空学会会士
两位机械及航空航天工程学系副教授于宏宇及李建邦获选为英国皇家航空学会会士，以表彰他们在航空航天领域的教育、研究及服务方面的卓越贡献。
会士荣衔为该会的最高级别会员资格，曾在航空航天界作出卓越贡献、担任重要职位，或具有长期优质行业经验人士方可入选。
于宏宇教授的研究兴趣是为科学研究和现实生活的难题提供工程解决方案。他专注于研究智能结构、传感器和传感平台，以及可应用于飞行器、机械人及消费电子产品的微型仪器。在2018年加入香港科技大学前，于教授任教于美国亚利桑那州立大学，并曾经担任多个主要研究项目的首席研究员，包括美国国家航空暨太空总署、美国国家科学基金会及英特尔的研究项目。
李建邦教授的研究领域主要涵盖流体力学、热声学及非线性动力学，其研究可广泛应用至航空航天动力及电力能源系统等范畴。李教授曾深入研究多种热流体现象，包括开放剪切流中的全局不稳定性、横流中的非牛顿雾化，以及热声模式的强制/相互同步。李教授的业界经验丰富，曾与劳斯莱斯、LB Foster，以及Coanda Research & Development等企业合作。他于英国剑桥大学取得博士学位，毕业后于该校任研究员，并于2014年加入香港科技大学。
