Prof Tianshou Zhao Named Highly Cited Researcher for Fourth Consecutive Year

Cheong Ying Chan Professor of Engineering and Environment Prof Tianshou Zhao, Chair Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Director of HKUST Energy Institute, has been ranked as a 2017 Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics. This is the fourth consecutive year he has been selected in the list, which represents some of the world’s most influential scientific minds. The honor is given to researchers who published a high number of papers that rank in the top 1% most-cited in their respective fields over a 11-year period (2005-2015). Such consistent production of highly cited reports indicates that the work of these researchers has been repeatedly judged by their peers to be of notable significance and utility.

Now in its 4th year, the annual list recognizes leading researchers in the sciences and social sciences from around the world. The 2017 list contains about 3,400 highly cited researchers in 21 fields of the sciences and social sciences. Prof Zhao is among only 176 researchers worldwide included in the engineering field. There are a total of nine recipients from Hong Kong in this field.
