宋勝輝教授榮獲科大傑出教學獎—祁敖卓越教學服務獎
電子及計算機工程學系工程教育副教授宋勝輝教授，在2018年獲頒尊崇的科大傑出教學獎—祁敖卓越教學服務獎。這項榮譽由大學校董會於1994年設立，旨在表揚不斷力爭上游、獻身教育及能夠啟迪和激勵他人的教員。每年，在香港科技大學所有學院當中，一名最能體現這些優秀特質的傑出教員，會獲頒這項殊榮。
宋教授在獲取博士學位後，於2009年加入科大。他的主要研究範疇為統計訊號處理和無線通訊系統；而他目前的焦點，放在機器人、 機器學習及雲端計算上。
當宋教授在科大開展教育生涯時，他矢志運用創新的教學方法，教導他數以千計不論是否攻讀工程系的學生。他相信大學是個激發學生與生俱來學習意欲的平台。在他的所有教學中，他一直展示出卓越的教導水平，而他的教學方法所獲得的評價，持續於工學院和大學位列前茅。他對教學的投入程度和熱忱，獲得無數教學獎項的認可，包括2012至13年度的工學院卓越教學嘉許獎，並三度入選十大最佳講師。許多學生的畢業專題研習和本科生研究計劃，均獲得宋教授的指導，而它們當中，有些更獲得多個獎項，包括最近在尊崇的2018年校長杯中獲得金獎。
宋教授為大學在教育和學習上的發展，作出了廣泛的貢獻。他致力開發新的學習模式，包括大規模開放在線課程、「體驗式學習」課程和混合教學模式。宋教授透過研究創新的教學和評估方法，來鞏固他的教學經驗，並發表論文公開他的研究發現。他在工程教育方面進行了大量研究，目前並為國際電機電子工程師學會有關教育的期刊擔任副編輯。宋教授亦非常慷慨地與同事們分享他在教學上的見解。
