科大成為來港攻讀工程博士學的位首選大學
香港科技大學（科大）工學院再度成為世界各地頂尖大學生在港攻讀工程博士學位的首選學院。香港研究資助局(「研資局」)公佈的第二屆「香港博士研究生獎學金計劃」結果顯示，科大工學院吸納的博士生人數，是全港大專院校的工學院之冠。
研資局3月30日公布，今屆共有125名來自世界19國家及地區的精英接受了這項獎學金。其中22人選讀科大工程學，佔全港選讀工程學的得獎者44%，是連續第二年最多工程學得獎者入讀的工學院。工學院的入讀人數亦佔全科大的總入讀人數(32人)超過三分之二。
科大工學院能夠吸納眾多的精英，實有賴其教授的卓越研究表現和他們對教研的決心。這些世界級博士生的加入，將進一步豐富學院在各工程範疇取得的研究成果。科大工學院院長李德富教授表示：「學院具備世界級的教授及研究設施，我相信各博士生都能夠在這裏發揮他們的最大潛能。」
研資局於2009年創立了「香港博士研究生獎學金計劃」，旨在招募世界各地和本地的精英學生入讀教資會資助院校，修讀博士學位研究課程。今屆研資局共收到來自全球103個國家/地區的4,024份申請。
