我们是否仿效造物主,重新以基因设计再造生命?

科技日新月异,不但使我们更深入认识生物世界的奥妙,为人类健康带来希望,亦让我们更了解引至疾病的潜在机制,因而能早日作出诊断、风险评估,以及开创崭新的治疗方法。科技的进步甚至可以使以往不可想象的事情也能做到,包括用重组基因对抗感染、开发特效药、改善环境以及供应更便宜的能源。合成生物学是否能为人类疾病提供良方,还是我们正在跟上帝较量?我们应把这项崭新科技拒于们外,还是应为着人类的福祉而善加利用?周敬流教授早前在科大 “Science-for-Lunch” 午餐座谈会上,与我们分享了其对这个课题的一点见解。
