我們是否仿效造物主,重新以基因設計再造生命? 

科技日新月異,不但使我們更深入認識生物世界的奧妙,為人類健康帶來希望,亦讓我們更瞭解引至疾病的潛在機制,因而能早日作出診斷、風險評估,以及開創嶄新的治療方法。科技的進步甚至可以使以往不可想像的事情也能做到,包括用重組基因對抗感染、開發特效藥、改善環境以及供應更便宜的能源。合成生物學是否能為人類疾病提供良方,還是我們正在跟上帝較量?我們應把這項嶄新科技拒於們外,還是應為著人類的福祉而善加利用?周敬流教授早前在科大 “Science-for-Lunch” 午餐座談會上,與我們分享了其對這個課題的一點見解。
