黄智荣教授获颁「祁敖卓越教学服务奖章」
科大计算机科学及工程学系黄智荣教授获颁发2020年度科大「祁敖卓越教学服务奖章」。此奖项于1994年由科大校董会设立，每年都会颁发予一位长期尽心教学、矢志追求卓越、循循善诱、启导后学和激励他人持续向前的杰出教员。
黄教授在香港中文大学完成博士学位后，于2008年加入科大。他的研究领域包括大数据、数据挖掘及数据库管理系统。
黄教授独有一套作为「炼金术师」（Alchemist）的教学理念，坚守九大原则 – 互动（Active interaction）、聆听（Listening）、关怀（Care）、高质教学（High-quality teaching）、勇于挑战（Eagerness to take challenges）、鼓励学生上进（Motivate students to work harder and develop their skills）、启发学生（Inspire students）、分享（Sharing），以及科技（Technology）。他在科大任教十二年，采取探究式教学法，培育了不少出色的研究生，其学生更在校内、外均获得不同奖项嘉许。
黄教授热衷于为学生营造积极﹑互动和友善的学习环境，并以精心设计的课堂内容协助学生应对现实生活的挑战。当中，他曾任教一门关于数据探索及可视化的核心课程（COMP 1942），课堂相当受欢迎，更让他先后两度夺得科大的卓越核心课程教学奖荣誉奖。
黄教授深明作为优秀的导师，不单纯是传授学术知识，更应关怀学生的需要，细心听取他们的意见，并适当地鼓励学生。因此，无论课堂上还是课外，他都不遗余力地协助学生解决学习以至生活上的各种疑难。在是次奖章提名里有许多都是来自学生，他们都感激黄教授给予極大的耐性和关心，为他们未来的职业生涯和生活难题提供宝贵的意见。
