黃智榮教授獲頒「祁敖卓越教學服務獎章」
科大計算機科學及工程學系黃智榮教授獲頒發2020年度科大「祁敖卓越教學服務獎章」。此獎項於1994年由科大校董會設立，每年都會頒發予一位長期盡心教學、矢志追求卓越、循循善誘、啟導後學和激勵他人持續向前的傑出教員。
黃教授在香港中文大學完成博士學位後，於2008年加入科大。他的研究領域包括大數據、數據挖掘及數據庫管理系統。
黃教授獨有一套作為「煉金術師」（Alchemist）的教學理念，堅守九大原則 – 互動（Active interaction）、聆聽（Listening）、關懷（Care）、高質教學（High-quality teaching）、勇於挑戰（Eagerness to take challenges）、鼓勵學生上進（Motivate students to work harder and develop their skills）、啟發學生（Inspire students）、分享（Sharing），以及科技（Technology）。他在科大任教十二年，採取探究式教學法，培育了不少出色的研究生，其學生更在校內、外均獲得不同獎項嘉許。
黃教授熱衷於為學生營造積極、互動和友善的學習環境，並以精心設計的課堂內容協助學生應對現實生活的挑戰。當中，他曾任教一門關於數據探索及可視化的核心課程（COMP 1942），課堂相當受歡迎，更讓他先後兩度奪得科大的卓越核心課程教學獎榮譽獎。
黃教授深明作為優秀的導師，不單純是傳授學術知識，更應關懷學生的需要，細心聽取他們的意見，並適當地鼓勵學生。因此，無論課堂上還是課外，他都不遺餘力地協助學生解決學習以至生活上的各種疑難。在是次獎章提名裡有許多都是來自學生，他們都感激黃教授給予極大的耐性和關心，為他們未來的職業生涯和生活難題提供寶貴的意見。
