5-G無線系統的精彩世界
目前，全球正採用第四代（4-G）無線系統，但研究人員正日以繼夜研發新一代5-G無線系統，預期將於2020年面世。未來的5-G系統如何領先當今的4-G技術？據稱新系統的數據容量將會擴大1000倍，並能連接多達1000倍以上數量的設備，能源效率較現時優勝1000倍，屆時即享有更快速的比特率（bit rate）及明顯改善時延問題。此外，5-G系統將支援新的應用場景，例如機器間通訊（machine-to-machine communications）。要達到上述目標並非易事。在早前的科大 “Science-for-Lunch” 午餐座談會上，劉堅能教授分享其最新的觀點和系統應用的情況，以及面對的技術性挑戰和箇中機遇。
