香港科技大學舉行水上活動中心一期動土儀式
香港科技大學(科大) 剛舉行水上活動中心一期工程的動土儀式。中心將成為校園新地標，不但為科大師生提供一個多元化的水上活動場地，更充實同學的校園生活，並促進大學與水上運動團體的合作。
科大依山傍海，景色優美，為善用地利優勢，校長陳繁昌教授倡議興建水上活動中心，並成立專責小組推進計劃發展。中心一期設有船棚，存放各類型船隻及設備，並提供水上活動訓練基地。
動土儀式當日，成龍慈善基金會捐贈了兩艘海上划艇予科大，陳校長對此表示謝意，並謂中心可增強科大成員間的凝聚力。陳校長說﹕「運動對科大至為重要，透過參與有趣的水上比賽和活動，學生可培養歸屬感及團隊合作精神，他們亦可藉此與教職員、校友與朋友共聚一堂。」儀式完結後，逾150位健兒隨即參與多項賽事，包括水球、龍舟及划艇比賽。
科大自2013年起舉辦多項水上活動，以及一系列證書課程和訓練工作坊。水上活動中心未來將增設多項設施，包括海濱長廊、滑浪風帆中心，以及兩層高船庫。
