香港科技大学举行水上活动中心一期动土仪式
香港科技大学(科大) 刚举行水上活动中心一期工程的动土仪式。中心将成为校园新地标，不但为科大师生提供一个多元化的水上活动场地，更充实同学的校园生活，并促进大学与水上运动团体的合作。
科大依山傍海，景色优美，为善用地利优势，校长陈繁昌教授倡议兴建水上活动中心，并成立专责小组推进计划发展。中心一期设有船棚，存放各类型船只及设备，并提供水上活动训练基地。
动土仪式当日，成龙慈善基金会捐赠了两艘海上划艇予科大，陈校长对此表示谢意，并谓中心可增强科大成员间的凝聚力。陈校长说﹕「运动对科大至为重要，透过参与有趣的水上比赛和活动，学生可培养归属感及团队合作精神，他们亦可藉此与教职员、校友与朋友共聚一堂。」仪式完结后，逾150位健儿随即参与多项赛事，包括水球、龙舟及划艇比赛。
科大自2013年起举办多项水上活动，以及一系列证书课程和训练工作坊。水上活动中心未来将增设多项设施，包括海滨长廊、滑浪风帆中心，以及两层高船库。
