公告 陳繁昌教授將於2018年9月卸任校長一職
香港科技大學（科大）今日宣佈校長陳繁昌教授已向校董會正式請辭。陳校長將於2018年9月1日卸任現時職務。在此期間，他將會協助校董會物色繼任人。
陳校長在任九年期間，監督科大的發展，令其成為全球最佳大學之一。在經過周詳的考慮後，他認為無論對大學及自己而言，現在乃是適當的時候另覓賢士，帶領科大邁向另一階段。
陳校長在解釋其決定時表示：「我為自己對科大所作出的貢獻感到十分自豪，去年正好是科大的25周年紀念；現在正是為展開未來新一頁的最佳時機。為了支持大學的成長及發展，我相信是時候開始尋找我的繼任人選。儘管我宣佈離任的決定較預期早了一年，然而我相信科大越早啟動招聘的程序，對其往後的發展越有優勢。經過我在任豐收的九年，目前是最佳的時候為將來作好安排，以令繼任人今後可帶來創新的意念及為推進策略性計劃作出長遠的承諾。這個時間表亦可讓我計劃自己的人生及事業的另一階段，並同時在過度時期協助校董會。」
香港科技大學校董會主席廖長城先生表示：「我們對校長的請辭雖然感到可惜但仍尊重他的決定。我謹代表校董會及全體師生，向陳校長多年來的竭誠服務致意。自其於2009年上任後，他的遠見、策略、籌募經費的努力，以及對提昇學習環境及校園基建的成就啟發了很多人。在他的任期內，科大在全球大學排名中躍升，現在已被視為世界上最佳學府之一。」
