公告 陈繁昌教授将于2018年9月卸任校长一职
香港科技大学（科大）今日宣布校长陈繁昌教授已向校董会正式请辞。陈校长将于2018年9月1日卸任现时职务。在此期间，他将会协助校董会物色继任人。
陈校长在任九年期间，监督科大的发展，令其成为全球最佳大学之一。在经过周详的考虑后，他认为无论对大学及自己而言，现在乃是适当的时候另觅贤士，带领科大迈向另一阶段。
陈校长在解释其决定时表示：「我为自己对科大所作出的贡献感到十分自豪，去年正好是科大的25周年纪念；现在正是为展开未来新一页的最佳时机。为了支持大学的成长及发展，我相信是时候开始寻找我的继任人选。尽管我宣布离任的决定较预期早了一年，然而我相信科大越早启动招聘的程序，对其往后的发展越有优势。经过我在任丰收的九年，目前是最佳的时候为将来作好安排，以令继任人今后可带来创新的意念及为推进策略性计划作出长远的承诺。这个时间表亦可让我计划自己的人生及事业的另一阶段，并同时在过度时期协助校董会。」
香港科技大学校董会主席廖长城先生表示：「我们对校长的请辞虽然感到可惜但仍尊重他的决定。我谨代表校董会及全体师生，向陈校长多年来的竭诚服务致意。自其于2009年上任后，他的远见、策略、筹募经费的努力，以及对提升学习环境及校园基建的成就启发了很多人。在他的任期内，科大在全球大学排名中跃升，现在已被视为世界上最佳学府之一。」
