Technology and Management International Business Plan Competition 2013 in South Africa
18 Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management students traveled to Johannesburg, South Africa, from 2 to 11 Jan 2013, to join students from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC) and form mixed teams to conduct research on social and economic topics of South Africa in order to develop awareness in the global nature of business and a deeper understanding of important issues facing nations in the developing and developed world.
Students visited museums, local chamber of commerce, railway and port company, institutes of poverty and race relations etc. to experience firsthand some of the social, economic, political, and business challenges taking place in South Africa today.
They also had fun in the game reserve and marine world as well as enhancing South Africa culture immersion through interactions with local people.
