立「光」见影

香港科技大学张鉴泉理学教授兼化学系讲座教授唐本忠教授的研究团队,近日成功研发崭新“聚集诱导发光”(AIE) 物料,可提升法医搜证的效率,并可应用于细菌显影技术。

新AIE物料所套取的指模质量较普遍使用的碳粉技术优胜,不但可节省90%的搜证时间,而且能够更稳定和准确地探测细菌活性。

唐本忠教授指出,AIE套取的指模在质量或效率方面,都更胜目前采用的碳粉技术。

AIE物料的优势在于使用时无须转移指纹。只需拍下指模影像,再以AIE物料令其发光,然后将影像传送到智能装置,即可与相关数据库作比对。

唐教授表示︰“传统方法较为耗时,而且把指模转移至胶纸的过程中,部份影像可能会流失,因此指模质量可能较为逊色。”

唐教授认为AIE 还能延长细菌发光的时间,因此有潜力成为更准确和稳定的显影剂,用以探测细菌活性。因此,AIE物料尤其有利于环境监测、医疗卫生、食品加工以至医药品质控制等广泛行业。
