PhD student, Ivor Wai-Hung TSANG received IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks Outstanding 2004 Paper Award (bestowed in 2006) from The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society
The IEEE Computational Intelligence Society recently awarded PhD student, Ivor Wai-Hung TSANG and his teacher Dr James KWOK, with the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks Outstanding 2004 Paper Award (bestowed in 2006) for the paper, The pre-image problem in kernel methods, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks,Vol. 15, pp. 1517-1525, 2004.
The award is to recognize annually the outstanding paper published in the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks two years prior to the Award decision. Papers published in 2010, for example, will be eligible for consideration in 2012. The judging is based upon general quality, originality, contribution, subject matter, and timeliness.
Ivor also got the Best Paper Award from the IEEE Hong Kong Chapter of Signal Processing Postgraduate Forum in 2006. He has been included in both “Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering” and “Marquis Who's Who in Asia” 2006-2007. His scientific interests include machine learning, kernel methods, large scale data mining and pattern recognition.
