Prof Philip Chan Elected IEEE Fellow Effective 1 January 2007

Professor Philip Chan, Professor of Electronic and Computer Engineering and Dean of Engineering, has been elected IEEE Fellow effective 1 January 2007 "for contributions to the development of low-cost flip-chip technology." Fellow of IEEE is the highest grade in IEEE and one of IEEE's most prestigious honors. It is only bestowed to individuals with significant accomplishments. The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the Board of Directors upon a person with an extraordinary record of accomplishments with the condition that the total number of selected Fellows in any one year cannot exceed one-tenth of one percent of the total voting Institute membership (typically only around 250 from all over the world out of more than 500000 IEEE members can be elected to IEEE Fellow).
