毕业专题项目获ASM 科技奖2021嘉许
两个由科大工学院提名的毕业专题项目在2021年度「ASM 科技奖」遴选中获得表扬。项目演示环节及颁奖仪式已于2021年6月30日举行。
由四名修读数据科学与技术理学士的本科生所组成的队伍，以「通过无线网络感测与巴士候车分析建设智慧校园」为题的毕业专题项目，夺得银奖。队伍由计算机科学及工程学系陈双幸教授指导，成员包括郑晓恩丶何霆峰丶梁思进及余振凯。较早前，该项目亦分别获计算机科学及工程学系颁授2020-21年度最佳毕业项目及最佳毕业项目视频两个奖项。
此项目的设计目的在于解决科大北闸及南闸巴士站相当耗时和令人烦恼的候车问题。透过运用大数据挖掘和分析技巧，项目以保密及实时的方式，感知候车人士的电子设备连接至无线网络所发出的信号，从而估计两个闸口的拥挤度和乘客候车时间。收集得来的数据会先经过过滤，隔除杂讯，再按照信号的强度划分为不同的候车通道。乘客可以通过电脑及手机兼容的网站，浏览拥挤度指标、预计候车时间、排队人龙的长度，还有其他数据资料。
另一个获得提名奖的项目为「凸轮驱动的新型压缩式弹卡制冷装置」。队伍由孙庆平教授带领，共包括五名机械工程本科生，他们分别为欧隽彦、许颖欣、雷毅朗、裴证珩及萧曜昕。
「ASM 科技奖」由ASM太平洋科技有限公司设立，今年踏入第六年，目的在于推广香港的科技创新发展。奖项旨于表扬最优秀的工程学生，通过他们在科技方面的成就，将世界变得更美好。
今年，香港城市大学、香港中文大学、香港理工大学、香港科技大学及香港大学五间本地大学，合共提名了十个与工程及科技相关的毕业专题项目参加此奖项遴选。
