Prof. ZHANG Limin and Prof. LIU Ming Recognized with 2020 Guangdong Province Science and Technology Awards
Two School of Engineering faculty members were honored in the 2020 Guangdong Province Science and Technology Awards (2020年度廣東省科學技術獎).
Prof. ZHANG Limin, Head and Chair Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and his former PhD students received a First Class Award in Natural Science for their project on “Mechanisms of Landslides Due to the Formation of Soil Cracks and Preferential Flows” (邊坡內生裂隙形成與優勢流孕災滑坡機制). The former students are now on the faculty of different universities on the Mainland. They are LI Jinhui (2009), at Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen, LI Xu (2009), at Beijing Jiaotong University, PENG Ming (2012), at Tongji University, and LI Xueyou (2016), at Sun Yat-sen University.
Prof. LIU Ming, Associate Professor of Electronic & Computer Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering, and his collaborators received a Second Class Award in Technology Invention for their project titled “Research and Application of Low-cost Robot Localization and Navigation Technology” (機器人低成本定位導航技術研發及應用). The award recognized their contribution to the innovation and application of key technology for pandemic prevention and control. Other team members are from Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shenzhen Silver Star Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd.
