Nine SENG Faculty Members Received NSFC’s Excellent Young Scientists Fund and Young Scientists Fund
The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has awarded funding to nine young faculty members in the School of Engineering (SENG), including three receiving the Excellent Young Scientists Fund and six receiving the Young Scientists Fund.

The Excellent Young Scientists Fund is one of the most prestigious funding schemes for young scientists (under 38 for male and under 40 for female) in China. It supports promising scholars who have already achieved good results in basic research to pursue innovative research in self-chosen areas, and aims to foster the rapid development of young talents who will eventually be at the forefront of world-class scientific and technology research. Each project will receive funding of RMB 2 million over three years.
The Young Scientists Fund supports young scientists (under 35 for male and under 40 for female) in China to freely select their research topics within the funding scope of NSFC to conduct basic research. It focuses on fostering the ability of young scientists to independently undertake research projects and conduct innovative research, stimulates their creative thinking and trains future talents for basic research. Each project will receive funding of RMB300,000 over three years.
