Life Cycle Lab Launch Event

HKUST Life Cycle Lab had a launch event in November 2022 where we discussed issues surrounding Life Cycle Thinking (LCT) and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) in Hong Kong and beyond!

The life cycle concept is one of the most powerful and widely used tools to support the development of a sustainable economy through evaluating costs, impacts, and reducing unintended consequences of decision-making. The HKUST Life Cycle Lab aims to be a platform to provide teaching and training materials, guidance, networking and support for students, staff, academics, and industry practitioners who want to contribute to building Life Cycle Thinking and Assessment competence and knowledge throughout the Hong Kong community.

In this launch event, we had discussions regarding several aspects of Life Cycle Analysis and Life Cycle Thinking. Many industry, institutional and academic practitioners who are interested in LCA/LCT joined to discuss developments in Hong Kong and beyond. There were also representatives from four companies: Breer, Urban Springs, Not Only Powders and Planeteers, who focus on sustainable practices. We took feedback and listened to all thoughts from the participants. Many participants mentioned what areas needed more improvements and gaps that need to be addressed.
