Five SENG Academics Secured HK$10.6 Million in Two NSFC/RGC Research Schemes

Five faculty members from the School of Engineering (SENG) received a total of HK$10.6 million funding in the Collaborative Research Scheme and Joint Research Scheme of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong in 2024/25.

The NSFC/RGC Collaborative Research Scheme (CRS) aims to support larger-scale collaborative research across disciplines and/or across universities in the Mainland and Hong Kong, with a view to enhancing research output and impact on both sides. Among the 10 selected projects this year, three were led by HKUST faculty, including two from SENG.

The NSFC/RGC Joint Research Scheme (JRS) aims to promote collaboration between researchers/research teams in Hong Kong and the Mainland on the basis of complementing the existing strengths of both sides. The scheme supports research proposals jointly submitted by the Mainland and Hong Kong researchers.
