Computer Science Team Awarded ACM VLDB 2014 Excellent Demonstration Award
Among nearly 200 global submissions and 42 final candidates, the demo system “gMission: a General Spatial Crowdsourcing Platform” developed by a group of postgraduate students, researchers and alumni (postdoctoral fellow Dr Chen Cao, PhD graduate Dr Yongxin Tong, PhD students Zhao Chen, Peng Cheng and Chen Zhang, MPhil students Rui Fu, Zheng Liu, Leihao Xia and Ziyuan Zhao) led by Prof Lei Chen was awarded the Excellent Demonstration Award in the 40th International Conference on Very Large Data Bases (VLDB) 2014 in Hangzhou, China.
The group, represented by postdoctoral fellow Dr Chen Cao, PhD students Zhao Chen, Peng Cheng, Rui Meng, Jieying She, Yue Wang, Ting Wu and Chen Zhang, MPhil students Rui Fu, Yexin Li, Leihao Xia and Ziyuan Zhao), attended VLDB and demonstrated the gMission software to all the audience in the conference. This is the first time that this award is awarded to a team from the Greater China region.
