劉紀美教授獲《旭茉JESSICA》雜誌頒發2022「成功女性獎」
電子及計算機工程學系講座教授劉紀美榮獲《旭茉JESSICA》雜誌頒發2022「成功女性獎」，以表揚她在社會及工程界的貢獻。
《旭茉JESSICA》是2000年於香港面世的月刊，目標是向新千禧年代的香港女性行政人員讀者提供時尚生活資訊。其年度「成功女性獎」旨在表揚香港及大中華地區來自各行各業、對社會有貢獻的女性。每位被提名的女性都需經過評審團評核，最終脫穎而出成為得獎者。該獎項是對劉紀美教授傑出的領導能力、學術地位及影響力的認可，劉教授於各方面的卓越貢獻在社會上發揮了至關重要的作用。
劉紀美教授在美國明尼蘇達大學取得物理學學士及碩士學位，及後在美國萊斯大學取得電機工程學博士學位。劉教授於2000年加入香港科技大學，並於翌年創立了光電科技中心，專注於三五族及寬能隙半導體物料和裝置的研發工作。她曾獲電機及電子工程師學會（IEEE）、光學學會（Optica）及香港工程科學院（HKAES）頒發院士榮銜。劉紀美教授更曾奪多項殊榮，包括2020年國際工程技術學會J. J. Thomson電子學獎章、2020年光學學會Nick Holonyak Jr.獎、2017年IEEE光電學會Aron Kressel獎、1991年美國國家科學基金會女科學家和工程師獎，以及2008年香港裘槎基金會優秀科研者獎。
