楊強教授獲選為加拿大工程院院士
計算機科學及工程學系講座教授楊強教授近日獲選為加拿大工程院院士，選舉於2021年6月14日，該院在網上舉辦的年度會議中進行。2020年度和2021年度當選院士的頒授儀式則將在今年10月透過線上方式舉行。
楊教授是大規模人工智能和數據挖掘解決方案工程實踐方面的國際權威。他引領著遷移學習和聯合式學習的應用，以解決小數據、數據孤島、用戶私隱及數據安全在實際應用中的問題。他開發了適用於普惠金融、健康和電子商務的工業級開源系統，應用範圍覆蓋全球數百萬用戶和企業。他的研究影響深遠，並提升了相關領域的知識發展。
楊教授於美國馬利蘭大學修讀計算機科學博士。他曾擔任科大計算機科學及工程學系系主任，以及科大大數據研究所和「微信 ─ 香港科技大學人工智能聯合實驗室」的創始主任。他也是美國計算機協會（ACM）、電機及電子工程師學會（IEEE）、美國人工智能促進協會（AAAI）、美國科學促進會（AAAS）、國際模式識別協會（IAPR），以及中國人工智能學會（CAAI）的會士。
加拿大工程院成立於 1987 年，是一個獨立自主的非牟利組織，旨於在工程相關議題上為加拿大服務。該院的院士經由同行提名和選舉產生，主要彰顯他們在工程專業的傑出成就及長期服務。他們也在教育、基礎設施、創新、能源、交通等領域擔當工程專業的領導角色。
