楊海教授獲美國土木工程師學會Francis C. Turner獎
香港科技大學（科大）土木及環境工程學系講座教授楊海教授榮獲美國土木工程師學會頒發2021年度Francis C. Turner獎。
該獎項由美國土木工程師學會交通與發展研究會於1988年設立，得獎者均對促進交通運輸工程領域知識及實踐作出重大貢獻。這次獲獎認可了楊教授在交通網絡建模及交通經濟學領域，發揮著出色的領導作用，並表揚其優秀的研究和指導工作。
作為交通網絡分析及交通經濟學分析的權威，楊教授於多份知名學術期刊發表具影響力的論文，包括《Transportation Research Part B》、《Transportation Research Part C》、《Transportation Science》及《Networks and Spatial Economics》。其論文在Google學術搜尋被引用超過兩萬四千次，數據在國際交通運輸學界名列前茅。在2013年至2018年期間，楊教授曾擔任《Transportation Research Part B: Methodological》的總編輯。他在任期間，期刊所發表的論文數目增加一倍，影響系數上升，令期刊在學界更具權威性。現時，他是這份期刊的傑出（榮譽）編委。楊教授的研究不但提升對複雜交通運輸問題的認知及思維，同時亦具實際影響力。他在按需求提供的交通服務研究工作，包括共享出行服務如Uber和傳統的士等，都被應用在公私營業界，協助改善服務營運和效率。
除了在研究方面取得主要成就，楊教授同時亦致力於培育下一代，桃李滿門。當中許多由他指導的博士畢業生都曾贏取不同獎項，並各自在學術工作方面取得相當的成就。
楊教授於1993年加入科大。此次獲獎之前，他在2020年得到同由美國土木工程師學會頒發的Frank M. Masters Transportation Engineering獎，並在過去多年來獲得多項加許，包括2011年由中國國務院授予國家自然科學獎、2012年獲國家教育部聘為長江學者講座教授，及同年得到科大工學院卓越研究獎 。
