科大計算機科學及工程學系兩教授獲選IEEE院士
香港科技大學(科大)計算機科學及工程學系韓隸教授及李波教授剛獲譽滿國際的電機及電子工程師學會(IEEE)頒授院士榮銜。
韓教授及李教授在網絡及通訊技術方面的研究作出重大貢獻。韓教授及李教授分別就「對高速分封交換技術的設計及分析所作的貢獻」及「對網絡內容發佈技術的貢獻」而獲頒IEEE院士銜。
院士資格是IEEE的最高榮譽之一，表揚對工程業界有巨大貢獻的人士。每年只有少於千分之一的會員獲得這個最高會員資格。
IEEE是一個非牟利組織，致力推動宇航系統、計算機科學、電訊、生物醫學、電力及消費性電子產品等領域。它是世界最具規模的國際性電子技術與資訊科技工程師協會，擁有全球160多個國家三十九萬五千多名會員。
韓教授於1985年在路易斯安那大學獲得電子工程學士學位,隨後於1987及1991年在匹茲堡大學分別獲碩士和博士學位。他在1991年加入科大計算機科學及工程系，現時為該系的講座教授及系主任。
李教授於1996年加入科大，現時是計算機科學及工程系的教授。他分別於1987及1989年在清華大學獲得計算機科學學士及碩士學位，並於1993年在馬薩諸塞大學阿姆赫斯特分校(University of Massachusetts at Amherst)獲頒博士學位。
