The paper of Prof Tongyi Zhang from the Department of Mechanical Engineering was selected as the cover page of Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

Collaborating with a biologist, Prof Joseph T Y Wong at the Biology Department, HKUST, Prof Tong-Yi Zhang’s nanobiomechanic study of the dinoflagellates (marine protozoa having two flagella) by using nanoindentation was selected as the cover page of Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in Feb 2007. Measuring the hardness and Young’s modulus of the structural component of the microorganisms can give insights into the ecological significance and biotechnological potential of bio-fabricated structures.
