Prof Tianshou Zhao Named Highly Cited Researcher For Second Consecutive Year

Prof Tianshou Zhao, Chair Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Director of HKUST Energy Institute, has been selected as a Highly Cited Researcher 2015 by Thomson Reuters. This is the second consecutive year he has been selected in the list, which represents some of the world’s most influential scientific minds. The honor is given to researchers who publish the greatest numbers of highly cited papers, which are ranked among the top 1% most cited for their subject field and year of publication between 2003 and 2013.

The 2015 list contains about 3,000 highly cited researchers in 21 fields of the sciences and social sciences. Prof Zhao is among only 157 researchers worldwide to be included in the engineering field of the list. There are a total of six recipients from Hong Kong in the engineering field.

In addition, Prof Zhao was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, a professional body from the UK for chemical scientists with more than 51,000 members. Prof Zhao is also an elected Fellow of American Society of Mechanical Engineers since 2007.
