科大水底机械人小队于「虚拟RobotX大赛2023」勇夺亚军
香港科技大学（科大）机械人竞赛团队的其中一支分队——水底机械人小队，于「2023年虚拟RobotX大赛」（Virtual RobotX Competition 2023）赢得亚军。是项模拟海上竞赛由美国举办，共吸引了来自14个国家和地区的34支队伍竞逐，包括许多来自全球多家顶尖大学的团队，科大属首次参与。
科大的团队共有9名来自不同学科和课程的二年级和三年级本科生，涵盖计算机工程、计算机科学、电子工程，以及科技及管理学双学位课程。
「虚拟RobotX大赛」于2019年首次举办，让世界各地的机械人团队一较高下，利用Gazebo开源3D机械人模拟装置，于电脑模拟环境中操作水上无人机。该模拟装置由一家专门开发开源软件的美国非牟利公司Open Robotics与美国海军研究所合作开发。参加者需要于电脑模拟环境中为水上无人机构思创新的方案。
