陈双幸教授及梁炜霆教授的团队于「2024香港资讯及通讯科技奖」各夺银奖
两队来自计算机科学及工程学系的团队，于「2024香港资讯及通讯科技奖」的不同组别各夺银奖。
陈双幸教授与领先智能科技有限公司组成团队，凭藉「创新的边缘人工智能摄影机：保障私隐 看护长者」项目夺得智慧市民（智慧乐龄）银奖。
通过持续检测长者的活动，判断危险行为并发出即时警报，这个名为「一步安心」的系统提高了照顾者的看护体验，亦同时对私隐进行保护，主动检测可能危及生命安全的状况，从而保护独居长者的生命安全。系统使用了基于边缘人工智能的摄影机，确保在本机处理所有数据并不会留下任何纪录丶输出或传输图象或视频，从而保护了使用者的私隐和资料的保密性。
由梁炜霆教授带领的计算机工程学生团队，获得学生创新（大专及高等教育）银奖，得奖项目为「基于人工智能的即时手语翻译应用程式——手语通」。团队成员包括李焯森丶苏颢萌及黄皓亮，三位均是计算机工程学工学士课程的2024年毕业生。
「手语通」是一个透过AI驱动的即时手语翻译的手机通讯应用程式，旨在消除手语使用者的沟通障碍，让手语使用者无需使用任何特殊装置，也可以在没有中介的情况下直接沟通。这个应用程式利用先进的AI模型丶电脑视觉技术和生成式AI，无缝地将手语翻译成英语。使用者可以在即时场景丶视频通话等情境下使用。
