陈双幸教授获颁美洲以外首位Sigma Xi科学研究学会院士
计算机科学及工程学系陈双幸教授获Sigma Xi科学研究学会选为2023年度院士，表扬他透过科学研究为企业作出的贡献。陈教授是Sigma Xi自2020年开始每年颁授院士荣衔以来，首位及唯一一位来自美洲以外的受封者。
授衔仪式于2023年11月在美国加州举行的第二届年度卓越研究国际论坛中进行，论坛的主讲嘉宾包括2018年诺贝尔化学奖得主Frances Arnold教授。
Sigma Xi院士衔旨在表扬对Sigma Xi科学研究学会及科学界贡献良多、且备受同侪认同的会员。这项荣誉由会员角逐，而且不接受自我提名。在至今公布的四届院士名单中，每届的获选人数不多于20人。
陈双幸教授的研究范畴涵盖智能物联网及感测系统、位置人工智能、影像／用户／数据分析、云端与边缘人工智能、技术转移及科技创业。自2020年史丹福大学公布全球最顶尖2%科学家以来，陈教授每年均位列其中。他凭借技术转移和创业精神，成功地把研究成果转化在业界应用。他是多间初创企业的共同创办人，因其企业所创造的商业价值和对社会的影响，令他在海内外屡获殊荣，其中包括2020年获行政长官社区服务奖状，表扬及肯定了他在应对2019冠状病毒病疫情的杰出贡献。现时，陈教授兼任科大（广州）创新创业与公共政策学域的附属教授。他于2016至2020年曾任科大创业中心主任。
Sigma Xi科学研究学会于1886年成立，是全球最大型的跨领域荣誉学会，会员均为科学家及工程师。该会的使命是加强研究机构的健康发展、促进科学与工程学诚信，以及提升公众对科学的认识和了解，目的是改善人类生活质素。 Sigma Xi的会员中有超过200位为诺贝尔奖得主。
