CLP Holdings Professorship in Sustainability Signing Ceremony was held on 30 May 2016
A signing ceremony was held to celebrate the establishment of CLP Holdings Professorship in Sustainability by CLP Holdings Limited (CLP) at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). The ceremony was attended by Mr Richard Lancaster, Chief Executive Officer of CLP Holdings, and senior executives of CLP. Representing HKUST at the ceremony included President Prof Tony F Chan, Prof Wei Shyy, Executive Vice-President & Provost, Dr Eden Woon, Vice-President for Institutional Advancement, and many others.
Sustainability is a strategic research area of HKUST. The CLP Holdings Professorship in Sustainability will focus on two particular disciplines, namely Climate Change and Sustainable Energy. The University is dedicated to fostering frontier research in sustainability with an aim to help conserve the environment and enhance the well-being of mankind.
CLP is a longstanding supporter of HKUST and established the CLP Power Wind/Wave Tunnel Facility, the first wind tunnel in Hong Kong, at HKUST in 2000. The University is grateful to CLP for its generosity and support throughout the years, particularly the establishment of this new named professorship, which will serve to attract the best scholar in the region and from around the globe, or retain an outstanding academic at the University.
After the signing ceremony, the CLP delegates visited the CLP Power Wind/Wave Tunnel Facility and HKUST Energy Institute before joining a luncheon hosted by President Prof Chan.
