在2015年中国政府工作报告中,物联网是中国“互联网+”行动计划的一个重点发展领域。香港科技大学(广州)辖下之信息枢纽所建立的物联网学域依托于香港科技大学在无线通信与网络领域世界领先的教学和科研优势,进一步推动中国成为物联网领域的全球领导者。通过开办物联网博士课程,物联网学域致力成为全球知名的物联网研究中心,并推进物联网的基础研究及相关领域的应用和发展。

学域介绍

物联网学域隶属于香港科技大学(广州)信息枢纽,旨在采用交叉学科教学法,协助学生以跨界知识革故鼎新及探索崭新研究前沿领域,由此发展出由物联网技术主导的未来智能城市和数字化社会。

 

自2019年始,信息枢纽已通过港科大广州先导计划招收了3批100多名研究型硕士与博士生在香港清水湾校园学习。目前已录取的研究生大多毕业于海内外知名学府,如北京大学、哥伦比亚大学、伦敦政治经济学院、斯坦福大学、新加坡国立大学、浙江大学、中国科学技术大学、中国美术学院、中国人民大学、中山大学等。我们欢迎有电子与计算机工程学、信息工程学、计算机科学、机械/土木工程/建筑学、数学等相关背景的学生加入!

物联网博士 (PhD) 课程旨在培养学生在物联网领域进行原创性研究,培养独立、跨学科和创新思维,这对于物联网相关行业和/或学术界的成功事业至关重要。博士毕业生应表现出对所选学科的知识掌握以及综合知识库、创造新知识的能力,为该学科做出原创和实质性的科学贡献。

Danny H K TSANG  曾宪国 

学域主任/教授


毕业于美国宾夕法尼亚大学电子工程系,现任物联网学域署理主任及教授。曾教授为IEEE会士、HKIE会士、IEEE通信杂志技术编辑。主要研究领域为Smart grids; Networking; Wireless networking; Cloud/Edge computing.


个人简介: Prof. Danny H.K. Tsang received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Moore School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, U.S.A., in 1989. Upon graduation, he joined the Department of Computer Science at Dalhousie University in Canada. He later joined the Department of Electronic & Computer Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 1992 and is now a professor in the department. He was a Guest Editor for IEEE Journal of Selected Areas in Communications’ special issue on Advances in P2P Streaming Systems, an Associate Editor for Journal of Optical Networking published by the Optical Society of America, and a Guest Editor for IEEE Systems Journal. He currently serves as Technical Editor for IEEE Communications Magazine. He was nominated to become an IEEE Fellow in 2012 and an HKIE Fellow in 2013. During his leave from HKUST in 2000-2001, Dr. Tsang assumed the role of Principal Architect at Sycamore Networks in the United States. He was responsible for the network architecture design of Ethernet MAN/WAN over SONET/DWDM networks. He invented the 64B/65B encoding (US Patent No.: US 6,952,405 B2) and contributed it to the proposal for Transparent GFP in the T1X1.5 standard that was advanced to become the ITU G.GFP standard. The coding scheme has now been adopted by International Telecommunication Union (ITU)’s Generic Framing Procedure recommendation GFP-T (ITU-T G.7041/Y.1303)) and Interfaces for the Optical Transport Network (ITU-T G.709). His current research interests include cloud computing, edge computing, NOMA networks, mmWave communications and smart grids.


Songze LI 李松泽 

助理教授


毕业于美国南加利福尼亚大学电子工程系,现任物联网学域助理教授。主要研究领域为Coded distributed computing; Distributed/federated learning; Distributed systems and blockchains.


个人简介: Dr. Songze Li is an assistant professor at the Internet of Things thrust in HKUST (GZ), and an affiliate assistant professor at CSE department in HKUST (CWB). Before joining HKUST in 2020, Dr. Li worked as a researcher at Stanford University, on designing secure and scalable blockchain consensus protocols. Dr. Li received his Ph.D. degree from University of Southern California in 2018, and his B.Sc. degree from New York University in 2011, both in electrical engineering. Dr. Li’s current research interests lie on the intersection of theory and system of designing secure and scalable distributed computing solutions, particularly for federated learning and blockchain applications. Among his major contributions, Dr. Li first introduced leveraging techniques from information/coding theory to design distributed computing algorithms, which opened up a new research direction of designing codes to speed up and provide security for computations. Dr. Li received USC Viterbi School of Engineering Fellowship in 2011. He is among Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship Finalists in 2017. Dr. Li won Best Paper Award at NeurIPS-20 Workshop on Scalability, Privacy, and Security in Federated Learning.


Hong XING 邢泓 

助理教授


毕业于英国伦敦大学国王学院无线通信系,将于2022年1月正式加入物联网学域。主要研究领域为Distributed/federated learning, mobile-edge computing, wireless information and power transfer, physical-layer security

个人简介: Dr. Hong XING received the B.Eng. degree in Electronic Sciences and Technologies from Zhejiang University, China in 2011, and the Ph.D. degree in Wireless Communications from King's College London, U.K. in 2016. She is currently a Visiting Scholar with the Department of Engineering, King’s College London, U.K.. Since March 2019, she worked as a Research Associate Professor with the College of Electronics and Information Engineering, Shenzhen University, China. She was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow with the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, Queen Mary University of London, U.K. from October 2017 to January 2019, and with the Department of Informatics, King’s College London, U.K. from February 2016 to September 2017. Her main contribution lies in design and optimization of wireless communications to achieve sustainability, scalability, and security for wireless edge networks, leveraging the synergy of communication, computing, and caching. She is leading one national and one provincial research projects both as PIs. She received the Best 50 of IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM) 2014. She also received the Exemplary Reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Communications in 2019 and IEEE Wireless Communications Letters in 2017. She is currently serving as Associate Editor for IEEE Access.


Zijun GONG 巩紫君

 助理教授 


毕业于加拿大纽芬兰纪念大学计算机工程系,将于2022年1月正式加入物联网学域。主要研究领域为Wireless communications, Underwater communication and sensing, DSP, Localization techniques.

个人简介: Dr. Zijun GONG received the B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees on communication engineering, from the Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China, in 2013 and 2015, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John's, NL, Canada, in 2021. Upon graduation, he received the prestigious Postdoctoral Fellowship from the NSERC (National Sciences and Engineering Research Council) of Canada. He is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow with Prof. Xuemin (Shermen) Shen 's BBCR lab, University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada, working on real-time communications, localization, and tracking in vehicular networks. He has wide research interests on statistical optimization in communications and localization, such as WLAN fingerprint-based indoor localization systems, radio propagation modeling, underwater localization, and machine-learning assisted target tracking. He has also conducted fruitful research on channel estimation and tracking in massive MIMO, and millimeter wave communications. He was the recipient of the Best Paper Award at the IEEE Globecom’17, Singapore, in December 2017.


Gareth TYSON

助理教授

个人简介: Dr. Gareth Tyson hold a PhD from Lancaster University, UK. He has held positions at Queen Mary University of London, King's College London, and the Alan Turing Institute. He has published over 80 papers in the most prestigious conferences and journals in his field, including ACM SIGMETRICS, ACM IMC, ACM WWW, ACM CoNEXT, IEEE INFOCOM and various top IEEE/ACM Transactions. He also serves as an organising/program committee member for a number of premier conferences such as ACM SIGMETRICS, ACM IMC, ACM WWW, ACM CoNEXT, IEEE ICDCS and AAAI ICWSM. His work has have received media coverage from news outlets such as MIT Tech Review, Washington Post, BBC, The Times, Daily Mail, Wired, Ars Technica, and The Register. His research has been awarded the WOAH Shared Task on Hateful Memes Prize 2021; the Best Student Paper Award at the Web Conference 2020; the Best Paper Award at eCrime'19; the Honourable Mention Award at the Web Conference 2018 (best paper in track); and the Best Presentation Award at INFOCOM'18. He received QMUL's Faculty Research Excellence Award in 2021 and the Brendan Murphy Memorial Young Researcher Prize in 2013.


Zhilu Lai 赖志路

助理教授


毕业于美国莱斯大学结构工程学系,将于2022年9月正式加入物联网学域。主要研究领域为:IoT applications for smart cities; resilient and sustainable infrastructure; physics-informed machine learning/deep learning for dynamical systems; computer vision-based infrastructural monitoring and assessment; advanced sensing technologies.

个人简介:Zhilu Lai will be joining IoT Thrust as an Assistant Professor from 09.2022. He obtained his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Rice University (USA) in 2018, after receiving his B.Eng. (2010) and M.Sc. (2013) in Civil Engineering from Xiamen University (China), along with severing as a research assistant at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2012 - 2013). He held a postdoctoral researcher position at ETH-Zurich, followed by a Senior Assistant position at Future Resilient Systems, Singapore-ETH Centre. His research work includes theoretical, analytical, and experimental studies for developing innovative methodologies of assimilating sensor data into the modeling, condition assessment, diagnostics, and virtualization of engineered systems. He was the recipient of multiple scholarships and awards, including the outstanding reviewer of Journal of Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing (2018), Rice Global Engineering and Construction Forum Scholarship (2017), etc.
