[eNews] A Testing Ground for Future Value Investors

The Value Investing Challenge is held every year with an aim to promote value investing and encourage students to perform fundamental, bottom-up stock research in the Asia-Pacific Region. Contestants were tasked to value a publicly listed stock, write a research report and present the research.

This year, the 3rd Annual Value Investing Challenge for  2019 was held on December 5. A total of 37 teams submitted their reports and six teams were selected to proceed to the final round. The championship team was formed by three Year-2 Quantitative Finance (QFIN) students, Ryan LAM, Nathan TSANG and Angie ZHOU, with their research looking into Tsingtao Brewery.

Thanks to Chartwell Capital especially Mr William TSANG, Head of Research and Portfolio Manager of Chartwell, our students were able to gain valuable and practical experience in value investing. We also like to express our thanks to Prof Lynn PI and Prof Ekkachai SANYASIRI for providing support throughout the competition.
