國家科技部支持香港科技大學成立高等研究院
香港科技大學校長朱經武教授於本月上旬訪問中國國家科學技術部，與科技部副部長尚勇會面，雙方就如何進一步加強內地與香港的科技合作與交流，進行了深入會談，科技部並表示支持科大成立高等研究院。
國家科學技術部發表網上新聞公布指出，尚勇副部長稱讚朱經武校長在高溫超導研究領域和發展上，取得輝煌成就。他說：「朱校長在高溫超導的研究，是華人科學家的巨大榮譽。科大在短短十幾年間，躍升為世界知名大學，令人欽佩。」
朱經武教授則向尚勇副部長介紹了科大建立高等研究院的情況。朱教授稱：「科大致力吸引全球頂尖人才，拓展最尖端的知識領域。我希望跟內地的相關機構，進行廣泛的合作和交流，以及進一步獲得科技部的支持。」
在會面中，尚勇副部長還向朱教授介绍了《國家中長期科學和技術發展規劃綱要（2006-2020年）》、國家科技規劃、重點實業室建設、以及内地與香港近年來在基礎研究、應用研究等領域上取得的成果。
他指出，香港國際信息流通，跟國際科技界有密切和廣泛聯繫，在科技合作方面具有較好的區域優勢，特别是在國家提出自主創新戰略的形勢下，香港將會發揮更大作用，科技部願意為香港的科技發展及經濟建設，提供必要的幫助和服務。
基礎研究司葉玉江副司長、中國科技交流中心趙新力副主任等亦參加了是次會面。
