李兆基博士四億元捐款助科大發展
李兆基基金會捐款四億港元予香港科技大學，支持科大發展成為世界一流的教研學府。
基金會主席李兆基博士表示：「科大的目標是發展成為世界一流教研學府，我只是略盡綿力，希望幫助科大實現這個理想，為香港培養出更多一流人才，創造一代一代的生產力，貢獻社會。」
科大校董會主席陳祖澤博士衷心感謝李兆基博士的鼎力支持。他表示：「李兆基博士的慷慨捐助，對我們是極大的鼓舞。這份厚禮，表示了李博士對科大的教學與研究成果的肯定，對我們進一步為香港貢獻的巨大支持，我們對他的濃情厚意，銘感於心。」
科大校長朱經武教授表示：「這筆慷慨捐助使我們可以大力提升教學質素，更好地迎接『三三四新學制』，使科大學生能享受更有意義的教育。」
朱校長又表示：「高等研究院有助香港和中國發展成為世界知識中心，強化我們知識型經濟。李兆基博士的捐助，讓我們能圓這個香港夢。」
為了答謝李兆基博士對科大的鼎力支持，大學把未來發展的新校園，命名為「李兆基校園」、把大學新校園內商學院及其他單位的學術大樓，命名為「李兆基商學大樓」；並且尊授李兆基博士為「香港科技大學高等研究院創院贊助人」。
科大未來發展的新校園，座落目前校園的山上，預定2012年啟用，以配合大學轉為四年學制的發展需要。
