手語譜寫共融樂章
香港科技大學（科大）計算機科學及工程學系副教授麥鑑榮指出，最近一項調查顯示香港約有五萬名全聾或聽障人士。然而，這個社群所獲的支持仍然不足。
麥教授解釋：「香港的專業手語翻譯員人數偏低，現時只有約54名。」
為解決上述問題，科大計算機科學及工程學系應屆畢業生黎家偉、梁銘方及翁偉超，決定在畢業專題習作中運用於科大所學的知識，為聽障人士開發一個應用程式，使用者只要把中文句子輸入手機，便可翻譯成手語示範錄像。
麥教授認為這個程式對手語翻譯員的訓練很有幫助，也方便市民大眾與聽障人士溝通。他表示：「科大一向熱衷回饋社會，這個項目就是一個好例子。」在開發過程中，同學面對的最大挑戰之一是手語的句式與中文不同。黎家偉指出：「手語中的形容詞、副詞、數目和發問詞一般置於名詞後面，而中文一般是置於名詞前面。」
為解決上述難題，團隊設計了一個配合手語語法的句子拆解算法。翁偉超解釋：「我們使用FFmpeg軟件進行錄像合成，將各手語片段整合，形成完整句子。」由於梁銘方懂得手語，自然便擔任了手語錄像的主角。梁銘方表示：「我在半年內為超過1,700個手語字詞拍攝錄像，給我帶來難忘的經驗。」
