Congratulations to HKUST Deep-tech Startup Cognitact Limited on the Launch of PlasmarkADTM Blood Test for Early Alzheimer's Detection

We are pleased to share our excitement and congratulate Cognitact Limited, one of the HKUST Deep-tech Startups, for the launch of PlasmarkADTM - a revolutionary blood test service for early detection of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), marking a new milestone in the transformation and commercialization of local biotech innovations.

Developed by a research team at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and licensed to Cognitact Limited for further development  and  commercialization, PlasmarkADTM leverages world-leading proteomic technology and self-developed machine-learning algorithms. With simple regular blood draws, it detects level changes of blood biomarkers and accurately evaluates the instant probability of developing AD in individuals. Markedly, this blood test achieves early detection of AD 5-10 years before AD symptoms appear, with an accuracy of 96%. Moreover, PlasmarkADTM provides a multi-dimensional analysis of human body systems based on the detected protein levels. It can evaluate the status of body systems that may be affected in AD, including immune, metabolic, nervous, and vascular systems, providing personalized analysis and suggestions. The launch ceremony for PlasmarkADTM was held at Hong Kong Science Park on 16 July 2023 with heavyweights from local universities, biotech sector investors, and representatives of biomedical industries. At the event, representatives of Cognitact Limited offered lucid explanation of the technology underpinning PlasmarkADTM. PlasmarkADTM has the potential to significantly improve early detection, timely intervention, and treatment of AD in clinical settings, effectively preventing and delaying the occurrence of this challenging disease and promoting a healthy aging society.
