Challenge Unlimited – T&M-DDP Survival Camp 2021

At the beginning of every academic year, Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management (T&M-DDP) holds a 3-day 2-night leadership training camp, also known as the Survival Camp, for its new students admitted from JUPAS, direct entry and major selection to improve their leadership skills by completing various tasks at the wilderness. This year, Year 1 - 3 students made great accomplishment in the three respective survival camps held on 10 – 12 September, 24 – 26 September, and 30 September – 2 October 2021 at Hebe Haven, Sai Kung.

This experiential learning program aims to promote personal development and develop student’s leadership potentials and interpersonal skills. During the camp, students were required to work in teams to explore trust and solve problems as a team. Apart from going through high challenges in the wild such as Postman Walk and zip lining, students were required to make their own meals by starting a fire, set up a shelter in Hebe Haven to rest at night and build a raft together to paddle back to HKUST at the end of the camp. By overcoming challenges, they learned to work as a team and build supportive network; built self-confidence, particularly in new or unfamiliar settings; and more importantly, they were able to demonstrate positive and proactive attitudes when facing challenges in future.
