Bioengineering PhD High-Flyer Won Prestigious Butterfield-Croucher Studentship and Croucher Research Studentship

Bioengineering PhD student Ivy WONG Hei-Man was awarded the prestigious Butterfield-Croucher Studentship and a Croucher Research Studentship in 2021.

The Butterfield-Croucher Studentship is an award for the best Croucher Studentship applicant each year in the medical and biological sciences category. It was established in 2003 to commemorate the late Lord Butterfield, a former Croucher Chairman who dedicated his entire life to medical research and education.

The Croucher Research Studentships enable recipients to devote themselves to a period of full-time study or research in natural sciences, medicine or technology in approved academic institutions in Hong Kong.

Ivy received her BEng in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering with First Class Honors at HKUST in 2019. She continued her studies as a PhD student in Fall 2019, under the supervision of Prof. Terence Wong. Her research focuses on developing novel imaging techniques for intraoperative clinical applications. She is one of the inventors of the patented technology termed computational high-throughput autofluorescence microscopy by pattern illumination (CHAMP) from Prof. Wong's lab.
