Prospective Longevity: A New Vision of Population Aging

Division of Public Policy (PPOL) organized a seminar on “Prospective Longevity: A New Vision of Population Aging” on 10 October 2019. Prof. Sergei SCHERBOV, Deputy Program Director of the World Population Program (POP) at International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) shared the concept of “prospective age”, a forward-thinking measure of our remaining lifespan.  With the study of other health metrics, human can generate better demographic estimates, which inform better policies. It helps to know more about observed patterns of survival, reorients understanding of health in old age, and clarifies the burden of old-age dependency.
