李波教授获2023年《IEEE云计算学报》最佳论文奖
香港科技大学计算机科学及工程学系讲座教授李波，凭藉题为「HFedMS: Heterogeneous Federated Learning with Memorable Data Semantics in Industrial Metaverse」的合着论文，夺得2023年《IEEE云计算学报》最佳论文奖，论文与中国电子科技大学及新加坡南洋理工大学的研究员共同撰写。
这项突破性的研究提出了一个新型系统，针对工业元宇宙中联邦学习的关键挑战，包括与非独立同分布（non-i.i.d.）数据丶来自串流数据的学习退化以及有限通信带宽相关的问题。通过利用动态分组丶训练模式转换丶语义压缩和层级同步等技术，HFedMS系统增强了联邦学习在工业环境中的适应性和效率。实验显示，该系统不仅提高了分类准确性，还显着减少了运行时间和数据传输要求。这与李波教授近期进行的数个获研究资助局拨款的项目一致，这些项目均致力于开发联邦学习的新技术及解决联邦学习在现实世界中的应用问题。这项工作促进了机器学习技术的进步，同时展示了其在工业应用中的创新。
