Field trip to Shenzhen FinTech Companies (TEMG4950Q)

The new Corporate-sponsored Project of Dual Degree Program in Technology and Management on the theme of P2P internet finance starts in this winter term for students to learn about money lending from brick-n-mortar banks and Internet Finance. Students, faculty and corporate sponsors from GoLend.hk and IBM consultants from Hong Kong and South Africa visited a few large-scale FinTech companies at Shenzhen on 24 Sep 2015.

They visited Hongling Capital, Penging.com, Asiafactor and also the Qianhai Development Zone to get first-hand information on China's world-leading efforts in Internet finance.

Students will then work in multi‐disciplined teams to develop a consulting recommendation for GoLend.hk and present their final reports to a panel of judges composed of executives from IBM and GoLend.hk.  Each team will be mentored by an IBM consultant, in addition to the two class instructors.

Students who successfully complete the course with suitable caliber for consulting may be offered an internship, a one-year placement, or a full‐time position by IBM GBS.
