T&M Distinguished Lecture: Cisco Senior Vice President unveils the past and future of Internet

Mr Howard Charney, Senior Vice President of Cisco, the worldwide leader in networking,, delivered a speech entitled “The Internet as Innovation Engine” at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on May 8, 2007.

This was the first time Mr Charney delivers a speech at a Hong Kong university. From his professional perspective, Mr Charney analyzed the impact of Internet technologies over the past 20 years, explored the preconditions for fostering future innovation and identified key emerging technologies that will use the Internet as a platform to transform the way we work, live, play and learn.

Mr Charney contributes to formulating Cisco’s strategy and direction. He also advises on the application of critical Internet technologies and communicates Cisco’s vision to key audiences worldwide. He holds mechanical engineering degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA and JD from Santa Clara University , and is a licensed patent attorney who belongs to the State Bar of California and the Federal Bar.
