HKUST Startups won the Analyst’s Choice Award in the Startup Launchpad 2018

The Startup Launchpad Spring 2018 – Consumer Electronics was held on 11-14 April 2018 at AsiaWorld-Expo. Being one of the supporting partners of the Show, Dr. Eric Leung, the Associate Director of the Technology Transfer Center, was invited to be one of the officiating guests of the Opening Ceremony.

The Startup Launchpad Spring 2018 – Consumer Electronics was held on 11-14 April 2018 at AsiaWorld-Expo. Being one of the supporting partners of the Show, Dr. Eric Leung, the Associate Director of the Technology Transfer Center, was invited to be one of the officiating guests of the Opening Ceremony.

6 start-ups from HKUST participated in the show to showcase their cutting-edge technologies and products. These start-ups include: 3DK Tech Limited, AuVi Entertainment Inc. Limited, Hong Kong Innovative Display Technology Limited, iSTEM Limited, Pear Limited and WEXTECH HK LIMITED.

3DK Tech Limited, iSTEM Limited, Pear Limited and WEXTECH HK LIMITED were selected to win the Analyst’s Choice Award as part of the Show. Aiming to help buyers find new and innovative products at the show, the products should have the following features in order to be selected to win the Award:

- The product has a unique, innovative, unusual, different or new feature, design or function;

- The product has a feature, function or capability that is not available in other products in the market;

- The product is new, recently released within the last 3 months, or upcoming;

- The product is the first of its kind in Asia or the world.

Among 200 start-ups participated in the Show, only 20 start-ups were selected to win the Award.

Business matching were provided for HKUST start-ups. Pear Limited went to the Huawei Campus to pitch Huawei investment VP and Huawei consumer electronics team.

“This event provides us with a great opportunity to meet buyers all over the world.” said Michael, the company delegate of Hong Kong Innovative Display Technology Limited, “We found lots of collaboration opportunities here. They were mainly trading company and a few retailers. We are glad to meet visitors all over the world, including India, Mainland China, Japan and Korea.” According to the Event Evaluation Survey collected from the participating start-ups, each HKUST start-up met around 60 potential collaborators on average. Cherishing this opportunity offered by HKUST, they would be eager to join the show next year.
