Collaborative Research from CBE and CHEM Faculty Members Makes an Impact
A research team led by Prof. Fei SUN (CBE), Prof. Richard LAKERVELD and Prof. Jinqing HUANG (CHEM) has recently published an impactful paper in Science Advances showing Directed Assembly of Genetically Engineered Eukaryotic Cells into Living Functional Materials via Ultrahigh-Affinity Protein Interactions.
This research has attracted global attention, including a news article from the Scientist. The self-growing “Engineering Living Materials” (ELMs) demonstrated in this work could offer promising solutions to tackle critical challenges in climate change and ocean pollution.
