科大學者研發新物料 高效太陽能電池有望面世
智能手機功能日趨多樣化,社會上漸有以手機取代電腦趨勢。長時間使用手機加重電池負荷,令便攜式充電器大行其道。不少用家外出除了要找電源為手機充電,還需要為充電器充電,若能利用太陽能作能源供應,必可省卻不少功夫。
科大化學系顏河教授的研究團隊早前成功研發新物料,提升高分子物料的光電轉化率,製成的高分子太陽能電池,大大加快了便携式太陽能充電設備的商業化進程。
顏教授指研究團隊成功研發出三種新的高分子材料以及超過十種高分子富勒烯材料組合,能夠實現高達10.8%的光電轉化效率,是迄今世界上最高效的單節高分子太陽能電池。
採用硅製造的傳統太陽能電池,缺點是較重、不易彎曲、成本高及生產複雜。高分子太陽能電池相對上是成本低且環保的太陽能技術,製成的太陽能電池板不但輕巧靈活,更可透過類似報章印刷的技術大量生產。顏教技指出:「日後印製高分子太陽能電池就像印刷報章一樣。」
雖然是項研究尚在初步發展階段,新的高分子太陽能電池目前可為激光筆等小型電器充電。顏教授預期,十年內將可以實現高分子太陽能電池商業化,使之成為覆蓋面最大的清潔可再生能源之一。
