In the latest university rankings released by The Times Higher Education Supplement (THES) on November 9, 2007, HKUST is ranked number 23 in the Top 50 University for Technology table.
HKUST has consistently made Top 50 since the University for Technology table was introduced in 2005. In 2005 the ranking was no. 23, and in 2006 HKUST ascended to a record high of no. 17.
Poised to be different from other general universities from the onset, HKUST has a clear vision to strive for global excellence in science and technology. The persistent and outstanding efforts of our faculty, students, and staff in the past 16 years have been affirmed by the THES Rankings. Being the only Hong Kong institution to be placed in the Top 50 Technology table in the past 3 years, HKUST's leading position as a science and technology specialist institution in the region is cemented.
